Adam Levine and his family take a photo with Mr. Met on the field at the Mets game.AHRC residents had the opportunity to enjoy a Mets game together at Citi Field. On July 10, 150 people supported and staff members attended the game to watch the Mets take on the Nationals. As the men and women settled in with drinks and snacks, they tuned in to the opening ceremony which featured a video highlighting the contributions people with developmental disabilities make throughout our communities. To round it out, Adam Levine, a longtime AHRC resident, took pride in sharing his love of music by singing the national anthem.

On the field, Adam was surrounded by family members and took a few photos with Mr. and Mrs. Met before being escorted to the mic to perform.

“He is always so excited to perform,” said Adam’s sister Amy Levine. “Right when we came to pick him up, he just grabbed us by the arm and said, ‘Let’s go’.”AHRC staff and residents enjoy the Mets game

Adam has been leading the opening ceremony for 15 years and is always met with thunderous applause. After the performance, he waved to the crowd while walking past the throng of Mets fans showing their appreciation.

Adam then joined his house mates in the stands to enjoy the game. This recreation opportunity supports connections between people who are supported through AHRC Nassau’s services and might not have the opportunity to connect as often and they might like. This experience was made possible through the generosity of NYSARC Trust Services and their support of expanded recreation experiences.
