Staff members were the stars of Staff Appreciation Day, celebrating the theme “Staff Are Out of This World” on July 30 at the Brookville campus.
A highlight of the year, Staff Appreciation Day brings together employees across our family of organizations — AHRC Nassau, Citizens Options Unlimited (COU), BCCS, and Advantage Care Health Centers — to meet, share experiences and enjoy the day. Over 1,400 staff members registered for this year’s event, joined by team members from partner agencies.
“Our planning committee looks forward to this day all year,” said Jim Stock, Assistant Director of Talent, Development, and Employee Engagement. “Across every level of our organizations, we’re supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families, and none of that happens without our incredible workforce. This is our chance to give something back to the people who give so much every day.”
The day was full of activities and entertainment. A fleet of food trucks kept everyone fueled, with tacos, pizza, Wheatley Farms Catering, Mister Softee, Dippin’ Dots, Wild Bill’s soda truck, and Teddy’s BBQ all on hand.
Staff enjoyed henna hand painting and massages and browsed a wide array of tables and vendors sharing benefit information. Each staff member left the event with a tote filled with agency-sponsored thank-you gifts. Thank you to everyone who joined in the day – and to everyone who helped make the day an out of this world success!
